Ludovic BOTTOSSO was born in 1977 in Nîmes (France). He developed a passion for Art and painting in particular, at an early age. It is only after exploring techniques such as watercolors and pastels that he turned to oil painting, and thus, fairly quickly. Completely self-taught, he trained himself mainly by copying the Great Masters like Leonardo da Vinci, Vermeer and Georges de La Tour. He later discovered the Painters of Reality, who inspired him to perfect his technique at the end of the 90s. Upon completion of his studies, he moved to Lyon to work as a draftsman in a large architectural firm. After leaving the architecture field for teaching, he now fully dedicates himself to the painting of reality and trompe l’oeil since 2010.
His paintings are characterized by an almost unmatched great technical mastery. Indeed, Ludovic Bottosso skillfully brings a breath of modernity through colorful associations, where vibrant or monochrome shades always blend with subtlety. The element of surprise lies in the elegance of his compositions : a universe filled with artifacts from cabinet of curiosities, often referring to Mythology or the History of painting. The objects are depicted and staged from the simplest and common, to the most sophisticated and precious. All are powered by a strong, yet, natural light that gives his work a solid visual presence and reveals a poetic and unusual reality.
